Meredith Worley
Founder, Director, Lead Teacher: Preschool - 1st grade
Meredith has been dancing since she was 3 years old and knew very early that dance would be a very important part of her life. She recalls that day that God opened her eyes to the fact that the two things she loved the most, Jesus and Dance, could co-exist and be used for Him! Meredith graduated from UNC Charlotte with a degree in Dance Education. She was a “Gold Duster” on the college dance team and trained with Gerda Zimmerman, Pamela Sofras, Delia Neil, Vincent Brosseau and Karen Hubbard during her college years. She taught 2nd grade at Covenant Classical in Concord and was the first Dance Education teacher at Lexington High School. Meredith has directed and choreographed several musicals in the Lexington, Concord and Charlotte area. In addition, she was named 2023 Teacher of the Year for Lexington High School and Lexington City Schools. Her true passion is to shepherd and train dancers to create, inspire and pursue Jesus with all of their heart. Meredith has been teaching for over 30 years and looks forward to many more. She has been married to Scott for 31 years. They have 5 amazing children, 1 beautiful daughter in love and 2 absolutely adorable grandchildren.
Katelyn Scarlette
Assistant Director of CMD, Director of CrossMovement Company, Lead Teacher: Homeschool Classes, 2nd-3rd grade, Middle School & High School Classes
Katelyn began dancing at the age of three and has been a part of CrossMovement since she was four years old. She grew up dancing competitively and experience in various styles including ballet, lyrical, pointe, jazz, hip hop and tap. After serving as a teacher’s assistant at CMD for several years, she stepped into the role of lead teaching in 2017. Dance has always been a vital part of Katelyn’s life and she is thrilled to be able to share this form of art with her students. Watching them grow, not only as dancers, but in their relationship with Jesus, is her passion! When she’s not dancing, Kateln loves spending time with her family and friends. She married her high school sweetheart, Cole, in the fall of 2023.
Mariah Hill
Lead Teacher: 4th-5th grade, Middle School Classes, Musical Theater Middle & High School, Assistant Choreographer/Teacher CrossMovement Company
Mariah Hill began dancing with CrossMovement at the age of three. Throughout the years, her love of dance has grown and flourished. She has experience in many genres of dance including ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, contemporary, musical theater and West African dance. Becoming an instructor at CrossMovement has given her the opportunity to connect with dancers of all ages. She enjoys watching her students grow in their technique and abilities, but also in their walk with Jesus. There is something truly special about seeing students worship their creator through the art of dance!
In 2021, Mariah graduated from Appalachian State University with a B.S. degree in Psychology and a minor in American Sign Language. She currently works in the research department at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist. Along with dance, she enjoys singing and has been in various theatrical productions across the triad. She is grateful for the opportunity to dance and choreography in a worship focused environment.
Joy Brindle
Ballet Mistress: Ballet Technique 2, Pre Pointe, Pointe
Joy Brindle is a believer with a passion for the performing arts, specializing in dance worship. She has been dancing since she was a toddler - watching The Nutcracker in her living room and imitating the movements of the professional ballerinas. She trained in classical ballet and taught at Arts Evangelica - a Christian dance company with a mission to “reclaim the Arts for God’s glory” - for over a decade. While with Arts Evangelica, she also toured internationally and was given the opportunity to write, choreograph, produce and direct her own original ballet, "Tabernacle". In addition, she was privileged to perform in “Firebird” and “Swan Lake” at MasterWorks Festival summer intensive concerts in Indiana. Joy now pursues her personal mission to reclaim dance for God’s glory and transform dance into worship as a dancer, teacher, choreographer with CrossMovement Dance, where she helps dancers reach their ballet and pointe goals, and as director of Dance Remade, her church's dance ministry.
Monica Walser
Assistant Ballet Mistress: Ballet Technique 1, Lead Teacher Adult Ballet & Tap
Monica grew up in Lexington taking dance at Sheets Dance Academy and cheering at WDHS. She studied dance in Charlotte and has taught tap, jazz and ballet here in Lexington since 2008. Monica’s experience and training in ballet make her an excellent teacher in our ballet program, leading the ballet technique 1 class. She has been the choreographer for the Lexington Youth Theatre since 2016. Monica has a passion for dancing and teaching dance, and loves to see those she teaches shine on stage.
Carly Wright
Lead Teacher: Beginner, Intermediate and Advance Tumble Classes
Carly is the lead tumble/acrobatics instructor at CrossMovement Dance! She is also a Math teacher at Central Davidson High and has been teaching acrobatics since 2015. Growing up, she was very involved in tumbling and cheerleading, as well as involved in her Church. It was not until Cross Movement that she learned that she could combine her two passions. Carly’s first summer with CMD was in 2012 and she could not be more grateful for the Christ-centered friendships and the spiritual growth that have resulted from this ministry. Mrs. Carly delights in getting to help children grow in their love for acrobatics and, more importantly, for Jesus!
Cassie Miller
Lead Teacher: Alumni Ballet, Assistant Choreographer/Teacher - High School Ballet, CrossMovement Company
Cassie has danced at CrossMovement since the age of 2 years old and CMD has been a second family ever since. Cassie graduated from Appalachian State in 2021. She was a Dance Studies minor and part of the Momentum Dance Club. In addition, Cassie was the Public Relations chair of Appalachian Musical Theatre Club. She is so grateful for the opportunity to fellowship with and lead her brothers and sisters in Christ with the gift of dance. When she isn’t dancing, you’ll find her working on her career as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
Kylie Nifong
Lead Teacher: Alumni Hip Hop, High School Hip Hop
Kylie is a 2022 UNC Charlotte graduate where she majored in Health Communication and minored in Child and Family Development. She is currently working on getting her Masters in Speech and Language Pathology. While at UNCC, she trained with local and national Hip Hop teachers which helped foster her love for Hip Hop dance. Kylie loves the freedom and creativity that Hip Hop provides. She loves the freedom and structure within the movement. Kylie loves using Hip Hop as a way to worship Jesus and share the good news of Jesus.
Kayla Miller
Lead Teacher: Alumni Tap
Kayla is a theater major at Appalachian State where she is majoring in Theater Arts with a minor in Dance Studies. Kayla is heavily involved in the App Musical Theatre Club where she is currently president. She is also a choreographer for Momentum Dance Club at App State. Kayla's passion for tap and musical theater is evident in her classes and performances. She is thankful for the opportunity to use the gifts God has given her to teach others and worship Him.
