Cross Movement Dance Events

All ballet classes in K-1st and up will participate in the performances. Rehearsals will be during their ballet classes September - December, 1 Saturday in October, 2 Saturdays in November, along with tech week. Participation isn’t mandatory, but strongly encouraged. If a dancer is unable to participate, they may still be in the ballet class and learn the dances for fun. Parents and dancers will be given the rehearsal schedule by July of the upcoming season. It is their responsibility to read the info and check their calendars to make sure that dancers will be able to attend all rehearsals. Parents & dancers will be asked to sign the information sheet with details/dates, understanding that it commitment and hard work are required. Dancers may miss 1 rehearsal in November, but all tech week rehearsals are required in order to participate. Tech week and all performances will be held at the Edward C. Smith Civic Center in Lexington. There is a $20 Nutcracker fee per dancer that covers their tights and any accessories needed. Costumes will be provided. It is a wonderful opportunity for CMD to provide this performance to our community, family and friends. 

Auditions will be held the summer before the upcoming season for dancers 5th grade & up all roles. Dancers auditioning for Land of Sweets, Snow Queen, Rat King, Clara & The Nutcracker must be enrolled in our Ballet Technique 1 or 2 classes.

Every year, CMD participates in this festive event in Uptown Lexington. It is the Sunday before Thanksgiving and dancers in tap, jazz, musical theater, tumble, and precision jazz participate. Dancers learn fun festive dances to their favorite Christmas songs and to songs that point to the true meaning of Christmas = Jesus! Dancers wear our red CMD sweatshirt that will be available for purchase, black leggings (girls), black joggers (boys), black tank leotard, and honey-colored tights.

The first Monday in December Lexington has their Christmas parade. We have been participating for over 15 years and look forward to this event every year. Dancers age 2-2nd grade will ride with one parent on our CMD float while our dancers 3rd grade & up will walk and  dance. Dancers wear our red CMD sweatshirt that will be available for purchase, black leggings (girls), black joggers (boys), black tank leotard, honey colored tights.

We love visiting and performing for local

nursing homes, community events, and churches.

Dancers in our classes 2yr-5th grade have this opportunity.

This dance is held in February of each year and is open to the community. Girls and their dads, uncle, granddad, or other special male figures are invited to come and enjoy a special evening of dancing, refreshments, and fun.
